Since my path to the world of art was a bit different than usual, another kind of CV was needed.
I was born in Israel at 1983. As a child of a vegetarian, pacifistic, hippie parents I was sent to a free primary school. it was great, I loved it. since I always enjoyed being creative, it was just reasonable to continue with an art high school, which gave me some technical skills and approach to the world of art.
Around end of my teen hood, I realized I should probably drop all other ideas about becoming a fortune teller or a shepherd and concentrate on the thing that seems to make me happy, art.
Only life has their own way, and very soon I found myself illustrating children books. for a while it was a passion; imagining fantastic worlds and characters, playing with colors and compositions and learning some immeasurable Photoshop and printing methods was a beautiful way to pass the time, and starve. (illustrating books in Israel has never been a very lucrative business)
Nevertheless, after four very nice books, I decided that it is just too nice but not enough meaningful to me. If to starve, than better do it for something you really care about.
Throughout my life art has always been a need and a cause. There is something fascinating, almost mystic about it that keeps haunting me back.
In my recent works I am experimenting with painting on unusual materials, specially old book covers and inside pages. I find the textures created by time fascinating. Like wrinkles on an old man face are telling the story of his life, a book cover tells the story of the book, its age, its owner, its service. The book has its own character already and I try to work with it, adding my own marks with attention to the ones from before.
